St Vincent De Paul

The congregation of the Sisters of Charity of St. Vincent De Paul, in the Syro - Malabar Church, Mananthavady was started on January 1st, 1976. It has its origin in the ?soeurs de la charite? (sisters of charity) of Strassburg, in 1734, for the care of the sick and needy particularly the poor.
The congregation grew rapidly and spread from Strassburg to Germany, Austria and Italy. The Vincention Congregation in India is a member of the Federation of the Vincention Congregation formed in 1970, from Germany.
Serving poor, the sick, and the needy with compassionate heart as exemplified by the life of St.Vincent De Paul, who believes ?The Merciful Love Conquers the World?, was stated to be the Charism of our Congregation.
